Hazel - Year 6 2025 - 2026

Mrs Carr

Mrs Lwin

Welcome to Hazel Class.

It is our pleasure to teach in Year 6 and we are excited for the year ahead. We hope to be the 'dynamic duo' that conquer the challenges of year 6 together!

Mrs Carr

For those of you who don't know me too well, my passion is teaching and learning and I especially love to teach maths and English.

I love going on holiday, spending time with family and friends, especially my two daughters, and shopping! I grew up in Smallwood and used to ride past school on my pony thinking 'I'll be a teacher there one day.'

Mrs Lwin

I feel privileged to take on the task of year 6 and to teach my original 'oakies' now they have become hazel nuts! My passion is Art which will be brought into the classroom at every opportunity for creative learning.

I am equally family orientated and love spending my free time with my boys (husband and dog too) and travelling the world.

Our curriculum

Please see the curriculum overview for the Autumn Term (under the curriculum tab) for a learning overview for each subject.

Our topic is now WWII and the children are really enjoying their learning so far. We will be looking into how and why WWII started, the countries and leaders involved, key turning points such as The Blitz and The Battle of Britain, as well as how life chnaged for women, children and groups of people like the Jews.

In maths our main focus is caluclation and we will be continuing our work on addition and subtraction, and multiplication and division. As always, we will apply our learning to problems.

In English our veichle text is Rose Blanche. This is a very emotive story and will provide inspiration for diary entry writing as well as a more formal bravery award speech.

Forest School

Forest school is every other Monday starting on Monday 8th. Please see the calendar.

PE

Our PE slot is on a Wednesday afternoon so please ensure full PE kit is in school. Children should come in their uniform and will  get changed into their PE slot before the session. If your child could have trainers in school each day then we can get outside where possible for Golden Mile.

Come and See us/ Get in touch

If at any point throughout the year you have anything you wish to speak to us about, please do not hesitate to come and see us or get in touch either via dojo or email (kcarr@smallwood.cheshire.sch.uk) or (dlwin@smallwood.cheshire.sch.uk).

We are very excited for a wonderful and memorable year ahead.
